Hydra, 10 December 2017
The official countdown has just begun….
‘’Hydra’s Trail Event 2018’’ is coming!
The fifth edition of Hydras’ races is also an anniversary one! The leading organization of the athletes, who participated in the previous years, will be held on March 31 & April 1, 2018, an even better one, at an ideal destination for mountain runners where the paths do outweigh as the absence of wheeled vehicles is undoubtedly substantive.
The two- days races remain this year as well five in total, along with the children’s race. Three of them take place on Saturday while two of them on Sunday. All athletes will again have the opportunity to participate in up to three races but have paid only one participation.
Events start on Saturday afternoon with the unique Downhill running race where athletes are asked to run 3.3 downhill miles of the route along with individual timing. They start at 500 meters altitude and finish at the port of the island. Continuity is given with Junior’s Mini Race for primary school children. The day ends with a Run & Fun five km race which resembles to a City Trail so as participants can experience the picturesque alleys of the settlement and the unrivalled architectural buildings. But while the day is over, special events carry on a marvelous Pasta Party with a background of the sea and the sunset!
As for Sunday, the menu includes the main race of the running event under the name Ero’s Mountain Trail where runners will reach 26.3 km with a total altitude of 1250m. Respectively, there is the entry level RockRace of 13 km and 560 meters altitude, which has nothing to envy from the long route.
For 2018, participations will remain again on the upper bound of 1.000 and inscriptions will be made at www.hydrastrail.gr website. The inauguration of the registration procedure will take place at the beginning of New Year and in the usual practice expiration date, although it will be announced, it won’t be valid taking into consideration that every year Hydra’s Trail Event is sold out!
Our objective is that participants will be as familiar as possible to the beauties of the island and to enjoy a racing weekend in one of the most attractive places in Greece. Route planning has been done in such a way as to include mountain and coastal paths and cobbled streets within the unprecedented picturesque scene of Hydra.
We expect you all, promising as always an unforgettable racing weekend full of running, action but also intense emotions.
